  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    George Allen (1800-1877), solicitor and founder of the oldest legal firm in Australia, married Jane Bowden, daughter of schoolmaster, Thomas Bowden, on 24 July 1823. The family, of which ten children survived, lived at Toxeth Park, Glebe. The eldest son Sir George Wigram Allen (1824-1885) was a partner and successor in the legal firm.
