Canadian who was in Australia 1853-1855 - Scope and ContentBoynton sailed from Boston 23 December 1852 on the Fanny, arriving in Melbourne, April 1853. He worked on the goldfields at Ballarat before becoming part-operator of a carrying business between Ballarat and Geelong. He left Melbourne for England in September 1855 on the Kent, thence to Boston and Hatley, where the journal ends. He discusses, inter alia, prices and living conditions in Victoria and some of the events connected with the Eureka Stockade
