The Bathurst Federation League, formed in 1896 at the instigation of William Astley, aimed to enlist support for Bathurst as Federal Capital, and for Federation in general. As the Bathurst Branch of the Australasian Federation League, it convened the People's Federal Convention in Bathurst, 16-21 Nov 1896 - Scope and ContentInvitations, delegate and guest lists, programmes, reports, newscuttings and correspondence relating to the Convention, including a letter from Edmund Barton, Sydney, 4 Oct 1896 to William Astley (Price Warung') and a 'Confidential Memo' by Astley, organizing secretary, on his role as instigator of the Bathurst Federation League and the People's Federal Convention
