The Northern Riverina Water Users' League originated at Barellan, N.S.W. on 26 Jun 1953, its object being to advocate a scheme for the diversion of part of the Snowy River water for irrigation, from the Murrumbidgee River through the Northern Riverina to the Lachlan River
