Danila Vassilieff was born in 1897 in Southern Russia. After serving in the Imperial Army, he began travelling alone through the Steppes and in various countries. Came to Australia 1923, where he held many exhibitions of his paintings. He died in 1958 - Scope and Contenta) Manuscript by Danila Vassilieff, being an account of his experiences while travelling alone through the Steppes in 1921. (Xerox copy)
