William Owen Clarke, a farmer, was born in Kent, England and enlisted in Brisbane, Queensland, July 1915 aged 20 years. He embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT A26 Armadale, 18 Sept. 1915 and served as a member of the 25th Battalion, 4th Reinforcement. He was wounded in action in France, Nov. 1917 and returned to Australia on the Trasos Montes, 27 May 1919 - Scope and ContentDiary describes action at the front near Steenvoorde, fatigues, duty as a runner etc., 1 October - November 1916, and January-22 July 1917 after return from hospital in England. Includes miscellaneous souvenirs, 1905, ca. 1916
