- Scope and ContentOrders mainly in Bligh's hand. General orders, orders given at Otaheite (Tahiti) and orders given to Lieutenant Francis Godolphin Bond at Jamaica and at sea. General orders include those for watches, the galley fire, cleaning and airing the ship, watering and the issue of rations and stores. Orders issued at Otaheite on 8 April 1792 concern the silence of the crews of the Providence and Assistant on subjects relating to the loss of the Bounty, the death of Captain James Cook and the purpose of the present expedition; proper behaviour toward the natives; pilfering by the natives and the use of firearms. Orders issued to Lieutenant Bond at Jamaica on 1 June 1793 refer to the care of the stern hawser, and at sea on 19 June 1793 to the preparation of the ship for action. Draft order headed 'Calcutta' regard the placing of sentinels and the use of naked candle flames.
