  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Phillip Parker King (1791-1856), naval officer and hydrographer, was the son of Philip Gidley King (1758-1808), and Anna Josepha King, nee Coombe, (d.1844). He was a commissioner of the Australian Agricultural Co., and a member of the Legislative Council of New South Wales. His son, Philip Gidley King, the younger (1817-1904), was involved in the management of the Australian Agricultural Co., the formation of the Peel River Land and Mining Co., and was a member of the Legislative Council of New South Wales, 1880-1904.

    Includes letters from Philip Gidley King, the younger; Charles Augustus FitzRoy; Walter Stevenson Davidson; and correspondence with John Studholme Brownrigg and Robert Copland Lethbridge; and an annotated copy, ca.1826-ca.1830, of Apendice a la relacion del viage al Magallanes de la fragata de guerra Santa Maria de la Cabeza, que contiene el de los paquebotes Santa Casilda y Santa Eulalia para completar el reconocimiento del Estrecho en los anos de 1788 y 1789.
