  • Scope and Content
An unsigned and undated account in the form of petition addressed to "My Lord", probably Thomas, Lord Denman. The account is written by an unnamed convict and describes how he and another convict named Mahony stowed away on a ship sailing from Sydney and lived among cannibals on an island (possibly Fiji) where Mahony was eaten. Having travelled on a French ship to Tahiti the convict sailed to Liverpool, Quebec and Hull. He was eventually arrested in Manchester and brought to trial (7 pp.)
A letter to Thomas, Lord Denman, 18 August 1844 concerning the commutation of sentences and related matters. The signature is indecipherable but the writer appears to be a Member of Parliament (4 pp.)
