    Rev. William Hall, ca.1778-1844, was a carpenter from Carlisle, England. He arrived in New South Wales, 1810. Four years later he sailed with his wife on the brig Active for the missionary settlement at Bay of Islands, New Zealand. He worked there under the Rev. Samuel Marsden, 1815-1825 till bad health forced his return to Sydney
