Before being granted access to the microfilm all readers are to read the following statement by Mrs A. Poole, editor of The diaries of Ethel Turner.
'In the book, The diaries of Ethel Turner, published in 1979, I state that 'to the best of my knowledge', the entries and information contained herein are accurate. However it will be found that not all entry dates in the book strictly correspond with dates shown in the original diaries. This variation was necessary for several reasons, the main one being that 40 years of diary entries had to be covered in a mere 286 pages, when the material available would have probably filled over 1000 pages. This necessitated taking excerpts from one day and combining with entries from another, both to make the book more readable and to conserve space. Also a separate notebook (not on microfilm) was used to supplement information about Jean'.
