  • General note

    The drawings initialled "W.A.C." and Nos. 2, 4, 7, 13-15, 25-26, and 32 appear to be in Cawthorne's hand when compared with Cawthorne's sketchbooks B 233 and B 234.
The drawings are not mounted in strict numerical order.
Many of the inscriptions are on the reverse of the drawings and are difficult to read due to the application of an adhesive backing at an unknown date.
Most of the dates are in pencil and added by a later hand.
Some of the drawings have illustrations on the reverse, and some have borders.
Nos. 2a and 2b are drawn on the one sheet.
No. 8a is titled from an inscription on accompanying mount that was discarded at an unknown date.
Nos. 8b-d. are similar to drawings of "Mcfarline drowned", located in Watercolour drawings mainly of South Australian scenes / by William Anderson Cawthorne (PXD 40 Nos. 19a, 19b, and 20a).
No. 15 is a panoramic view that was originally drawn on one sheet.
The inscription on No. 17 is difficult to decipher.
Nos. 18, 19, and 20 are drawn in three sections.
No. 18 - An earlier card catalogue record states that "titled in blue pencil on backing sheet below decorative border". There is no evidence of this inscription or the border.
Nos. 50 and 51 are companion drawings.
No. 52 is damaged being torn from the centre to right hand corner.
