    The photographs in this album are by several photographers that include Josiah Stevenson ("J. Stevenson" appears beneath carte-de-viste view No. 19). Some of the views may be the work of Carl Ehlers who was working in Grafton at this time. A view of Ehler's studio is visible in Nos. 22a & b.

    Nos. 8, 25, 26, and 32 were identified by Alan Davies, Curator of Photographs, Mitchell Library, in 1984.
