    Drawings - Max Diam 5 cm. (portrait, sight) - 5.3 x 5.7 cm. (frame), 1.2 (loop) - 1 watercolour on ivory miniature in gold circular shaped frame with thick glass on front, set as a brooch (pin is missing). Encased on the reverse, covered in glass, is interwoven hair, brown in colour with auburn highlights. At the top centre of the frame are two loops for hanging.

    Sarah Leadbeater married William Lawson (1774-1850), explorer and pastoralist, on Norfolk Island in 1812. -- Reference: New South Wales Births Deaths & Marriages, V18121333 3A/1812 , 1812.
  • Scope and Content
    The female in this portrait wears a high waisted wrap-style muslin dress fastened with a dark blue ribbon that is tied around the bustline and shoulders. Her hair is natural [i.e. not powdered] and has a white ribbon.
