    Sydney, 4th June, 1894; Honoured Sir, On the occasion of your Golden Wedding it affords us the greatest pleasure to offer our united congratulations and hearty good wishes, and to ask your acceptance of an Album of Views illustrative of the growth of this large and prosperous Company, over which, with the earlier undertaking from which it developed, you have so ably presided for an almost unbroken period of Fifty Years. The accompanying Pieces of Plate, we ask you to accept on behalf of Mrs Knox, with the earnest hope that you may both continue to enjoy with your Family and Friends, many bright and happy days. We rejoice to have this opportunity of acknowledging your kindly interest in the welfare of the Company's Employees, and we assure you that you will always retain our warmest affection and esteem. / Illuminated by John Sands, George Street, Sydney.

  • General note

    Volume bound in maroon-coloured Russian leather, embossed in gold, with monogram of Mr and Mrs Knox, bordered by sprays of cane on front cover; Silk inside covers and flyleaves.
    The illuminated testimonial presented to Knox on his Golden Wedding Anniversary comprised two albums, similarly bound, one of which was the Illuminated Address (described above at A 6913), the other is an Album of Views showing the various establishments of the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. (Location Number: PXA 6914)

    This collection was listed as part of the Sesquicentenary of Responsible Government in NSW 1856-2006 Project.
