William Bligh was governor of New South Wales from 1806 to 1808 when he was deposed by Major (later Lieut.-Col.) George Johnston at the head of the New South Wales Corps. In 1811 Johnston was court-martialled, found guilty of mutiny and cashiered.
It is likely that Rev. Dr Vyse was William Vyse (ca. 1742-1816), rector of St Mary, Lambeth and of Sundridge, Kent, 1777, and chancellor of the diocese of Lichfield from 1798 until his death. He was ordained in 1770 and graduated D.C.L (Doctor of Civil Law) from Oxford University in 1774. (Reference: ML 4/04).
