The earlier part of this class includes Law Officer's reports on Colonial Acts, applications for passports and colonial appointments, semi-official correspondence and correspondence, including circular despatches, relating to the colonies generally. Between 1801 and 1854 part of the correspondence concerns the War Department. A section of this class forms the records of the General Department of the Colonial Office under its various titles.
