  • Scope and Content
    Six letters from David Atkinson, mainly to his family in England. The first two letters, written in 1851, describe the weather and conditions on the emigrant vessel Emperor, carrying 300 passengers, most of them being Irish families. The remaining letters are from Sydney, Burrowa (Boorowa?), New South Wales and Melbourne. They discuss mainly family matters and give only brief impressions of life in the colony
