    Founded 1842 as a seminary for training Roman Catholic priests, many for dioceses of Australia and N.Z.
  • Scope and Content
    1) Thesis by Patrick F. Murray entitled 'Calendar of the overseas missionary correspondence of All Hallows College, Dublin, 1842-77' (M.A. thesis, University College, Dublin, 1956). Includes a history of the College and of each overseas diocese. 2) Correspondence, mainly letters from bishops and priests of the various dioceses addressed to the College presidents. Records the ideas and activities of Irish priests in Australia and New Zealand. 3) Correspondence from dioceses in Canada, Scotland and part of England. 4) Correspondence containing letters 1858-60 to and from the Colonial Land and Imigration Commission relating to religious instruction on board emigrant ships and letters 1845-69 of Rev. Thomas Heptonstall
