Architect and surveyor. Left England May 1842 in the Tuscan, arrived at Port Phillip in Sept. then continued to Auckland. Returned to Australia Feb. 1844 and stayed for three months in Sydney before leaving in the American ship Navigator, travelling to Hong Kong via Batavia and Macao

1) Journal and sketches of a voyage in the Tuscan from London to Auckland, N.Z. Describes his short stay in Melbourne and his long period of residence in N.Z. 2) Notebook of reminiscences of his journey to Batavia and Hong Kong and his residence there 1844-45. 4) Sketchbook and loose drawings of the landscape, buildings, people, flora and fauna of New Zealand, Australia, Batavia, China and Gibraltar, maps of Gibraltar and Macao. 5) Photographs of Ashworth's tombstone
