The registers give details of seamen who sailed from New Bedford - name, address, age, height, complexion and an index of names. Many of these men sailed in whaling ships that visited the Pacific Islands

There are registers for the periods: 12 January 1875-1926 October 1881, 7 January 1882-1910 November 1885, January 1886-November 1896, 21 April 1897-1928 April 1905
