He left England in February 1806 on the transport Lady Madeleine Sinclair escorted by HMS Porpoise. He was accompanied by his daughter Mary and her husband Lieutenant John Putland. He remained governor of New South Wales until his deposition in 1808. - Scope and ContentThis letter was written from the Lady Madeleleine Sinclair several months before she sailed for New South Wales.
