  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Designer, Florence Maud Broadhurst, was born at Mungy Station, Mount Perry, Queensland in 1899. Later known as singer and dancer `Bobby Broadhurst', Florence performed in China before setting up a performing arts academy in Shanghai. From 1927 Florence lived in London and returned to Sydney in 1949. She became well known for her wallpaper designs. Florence Broadhurst was murdered in her Paddington studio factory in 1977. -- Reference: A life by design: the art and lives of Florence Broadhurst / Siobhan O'Brien.
