The view shows a man on a horse travelling down a road towards three 'natives' with mountains in the background.

The title is taken from an old Mitchell Library card catalogue, however, there is nothing to indicate that this view is in New Zealand.
In pencil on the reverse, probably in a former Mitchell Library Officer's hand, "Removed from Gallery".

The drawing has pieces missing on the right hand side due to flaking.
Provenance of item derived from a list of material that was deposited with the National Art Gallery (Art Gallery of N.S.W.), prior to the Mitchell Library's opening in 1910.

Signed and dated in ink at lower left, "N. Chevalier / 1869"
