Textual Records - (manuscript) - Scope and ContentFull title of journal: 'The journal of a voyage from London to Auckland, New Zealand, in the Ship Hark-Away, Stephens Com[mander]'. Herapath and his wife Emma left London on 14 Feb. 1857. He gives an account of the voyage and includes detailed descriptions of Captain Stephens, the officers and the cabin passengers. He also writes of his impressions of Auckland, describing its buildings, social life, politics, economy, and so on. Also included in the volume is a copy of a letter from John Marsh, Auckland, to 'My very dear Brother', 23 Dec. 1859. John Marsh was a relative of Emma Marsh Herapath.
