  Title inscribed in ink on reverse by the artist
  Notation in Martens' account book, 26 Jan 1841: "Harbour of Papiete Tahiti J.B. M.[ontefiore] 8 [pounds].8.0". Martens visited Tahiti in 1835 where he made pencil and watercolour wash drawings.
