The Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George is a chivalry order established in England by George, Prince Regent (later George IV) in 1818 to commemorate the British protectorate over the Ionian Islands. The NSW and ACT group of the Order was founded in 1950 and operated until 1999. Its existence was purely informal and relied upon voluntary annual donations from its members, who on average numbered around 50.

The Group was known for its Annual Festival held in St James Church in Sydney which was commonly attended by the Governor General and the Governor of New South Wales.

After the group disbanded in 1999 when membership declined, some members continued to meet informally at 6 monthly intervals until 2006.
