    Transcription of pencil letter: "Pitcairn Island / 28.2.33 / Dear Friend / Just a few / more lines to you hoping it will / find you in good health the same / as it leaves me in the time of / writing. I heave [sic] not received / the seeds you sent me yet. / I hope this will find you well / the painted leaves you sent for / I am inclosing [sic]. write and / let me know if you get them / hoping this find [sic] you all / well / I renamine [sic] / Your true / friend / Edwin C. Young [PS] Painted leaves / from Pitcairn"
    "To George Waite Northbridge NSW / from Edwin C Young" -- in blue ink at the head of the letter
    "Mr Young is a great grandson of / a midshipman on the Bounty. / when the mutiny happened" -- in black ink at the head of the letter
