  • Scope and Content
    152. Stockinbingal. Stockinbingal to Parkes line. Located in small town with a few shops. Similar to a S016 silo with an extra bin (about 2,400 tonne capacity). A 'D' depot bulkhead was built alongside in 1967. This is a D150 with a capacity of 15,000 tonnes. These 'D' depots are the most common type of grain storage. 72 of these were built between 1965 and 1970. 4/8/04

    153. Milvale. Stockinbingal to Parkes line. Located near small village straddling operable line. The original silo is a S041 (4,100 tonne capacity) known as a 'Metcalf', built in 1922. Larger steel silos have been added recently to make Milvale a major storage facility. There is also on-ground storage. 4/8/04

    154. Weedallion. Stockinbingal to Parkes line. Locality only, on perable line recently upgraded. The original silo is a S016 (1,600 tonne capacity) built in 1934. A 'D' depot D150 bulkhead (15,000 tonne capacity) was added in 1967. 72 of these depots were built between 1965 and 1970. The pair of steel silos are a recent addition. 4/8/04

    155. Bribbaree. Stockinbingal to Parkes line. Silo and bulkhead located on edge of rundown village. The original silo is a 'Metcalf', after the American designer J. S. Metcalf. It is a S041 (4,100 tonne capacity) built in 1922. A B063 bulkhead (6,300 tonne) was added in 1959. A more recent bulkhead has added considerably to the storage capacity. 4/8/04

    156. Barmedman. Temora to Wyalong line. Small town in scrub country. The original silo is a 'Metcalf S082' (8,200 tonne capacity) built in 1922. The 'A' depot was added in 1967 - known as an A299 with a capacity of 29,900 tonnes. Line Temora to Wyalong is still oeprating. 4/8/04

    157. Rankins Springs. Barmedman to Rankins Springs line. Termination of (disused) line at small town of Rankins Springs. A deserted 'A' depot silo; an A191 (19,100 tonne capacity) built in 1964. Also a small bulkhead. Officially the railway line is 'temporarily closed'. 6/8/04

    158. Erigolla. Barmedman to Rankins Springs line. Locality only in flat wheat country interspersed with scrub. Original S008 silo (800 tonne capacity) was built in 1930. Its superstructure was heightened with the addition of 2 bins (4,900 [tonne] capacity) in 1962. The more recent bulkhead would far outstrip the original storage space. 6/8/04

    159. Weethalle. Barmedman to Rankins Springs line. Small town with silos across park from line of shops and halls. The original S024 silo (2,400 tonne capacity) was built in 1930. 30 of these silos were constructed between 1928 and 1935. In the centre, with its workhouse, is a typical S008 (800 tonne). Each side are 9 metre diameter bins with 800 tonne capacity. A D150 bulkhead (15,000 tonne) was added in 1967. 6/8/04

    160. Buralying [i.e. Buralyang]. Barmedman to Rankins Springs line. Locality only in cropping country with some scrub. Bare steel (i.e. rusting) silos attached to original S027 silo (2,700 tonne capacity) built in 1936 and extended in 1977 (an extra 7,100 tonnes). Dirt road access from Weethalle despite large storage capacity. 6/8/04
