    Ian Morrison and Alastair Morrison are the sons of George Ernest Morrison, the first permament correspondent of The Times in Peking in 1897. After graduating from Cambridge, Ian was appointed English lecturer at Hokkaido University, Japan, 1935-1938. He wrote 'Life Begins in Japan', an unpublished account of his time there covering the period from August 1935 to August 1937. He was killed in 1953 reporting the Korean War for The Times. Alastair, a former Australian diplomat, compiled a memoir of his younger brother in a letter to his niece, Ian's daughter Petra, in 1983.
