    ‘Conrad Martens Sketches’ – Cover.
Bookplate of ‘Sir William Dixson’ – Inside front cover.
f.51 has been reproduced in Conrad Martens : life & art / Elizabeth Ellis. Sydney : State Library of New South Wales Press, 1994.
Robert Thomas Carter was an art dealer who purchased many drawings by Martens. He often added his own pencil inscriptions to the drawings, usually details about locations and prices. The majority were sold to David Scott Mitchell and William Dixson. (Conrad Martens : life & art / Elizabeth Ellis, p. 88)
The Abercrombie Caves are situated on the Bathurst-Crookwell Road between Trunkey Creek and Tuena, about fifty miles south of Bathurst. "Burrangalong" seems to be a name associated with the Caves in the first half of the nineteenth century. Source: Conrad Martens: life & art / Elizabeth Ellis. Sydney: State Library of NSW Press, 1994
