    Below the title is a quotation supporting the cartoon taken from a speech by Fergus O'Connor in the House of Commons, 16 April 1834. The cartoon shows the members of the Whig Ministry under Lord Melbourne in a row boat being pushed off by John Bull. Comments from him and the Ministers are shown in balloons as in comics. The Dorchester men (i.e. Tolpuddle Martyrs) are shown cheering as they return in a rowing boat.
