Pencil note on fly leaf states diary was at one time in the possession of Mr Holden of Balmain, a friend of Sir Henry Parkes, and later in Sir Henry Parkes' collection. Signature on title page and on page preceding page 1: 'W.H. Hovell'. - Attributions / conjectures
Includes pencil remarks by William Ifould (Principal Librarian) casting doubts on authorship. The signature and diary appear to be in the same hand, but these do not correspond to Hovell's hand and signature of 1815 at Ah 47. Some of the pages at the beginning have older erased index entries. The ink and sketches do not appear contemporary. The diary mentions (page 71) the writer's selection on the Hume, but it is unclear whether Hovell had a selection there. - Subject
