  • General note

Maybanke Anderson, nee Selfe in her recollections 'My sprig of rosemary' which were presented to the Library with the ambrotype, states that Arthur Brown took photographs on glass of herself and her brother Harry in Kingston, England and that several of these photos came to Australia. Born in 1845, Maybanke would have been approximately seven years old when the first ambrotypes were being produced in England. The Selfe family arrived in Australia in January 1855.
