    The collection summarises the artist's work while artist-in-residence, 1988-1990, recording the daily lives of workers at BHP's Whyalla, Port Kembla and Newcastle steelworks, the mines at Broken Hill, and the oil rigs in Bass Strait.

  • General note

    The etchings were exhibited in George Gittoes Heavy Industry exhibition, 7 June-21 July 1991, Mitchell Galleries, a catalogue of which is filed at PXn 806.

    Originals of six etchings (ff. 18, 22, 8, 3, 13, 4) were received as part of the same accession, now filed at V1B/Newc/6; XV1B/Newc/1; ML 1020, ML 1021; ML 1022; and ML 1024. For details and locations of other material included in Pic.Acc.7026, see Picture Source File.
