  This watercolour is one of three in the same style, and signed similarly, the other two being 'King William Street' and 'Port Adelaide, South Australia'. The paper of the three is the same and that of the Port Adelaide view shows the watermark date 1845.

  Picture is surrounded by pencil line, title in pencil is below line.
• Attributions / conjectures
  
  The view of King William Street has a signature of 'ELM'. This could be E.L. Montefiore who was a merchant in that street ca. 1846-9, see covering card under Montefiore.
  An examination of sketchbook in Mitchell Library attributed to him did not prove conclusive, see also notes by K.T Borrow, 1953, at A4002, p.3
