Charles Henry Baddeley (1810-1892) was born in England and came to Australia in 1831. He became a landholder, stockman and agent after he settled in the Monaro district, N.S.W., in 1841. He established one of Pambula’s earliest commercial enterprises, a tannery, in 1857. He is recognised as the founder of Lodge Baddeley 205, United Grand Lodge of New South Wales, in 1892. He married Clara Burcher (1831-1905) in 1846. His eldest son, Charles Arthur Baddeley (1849-1929), worked in the family tannery, was a freemason and became the first President of the Imlay Shire Council. He married twice; firstly, Mary Caroline Graham (1864-1903) and then Alice Maude Bennett (1870-1936). Charles Arthur (Ben) Baddeley (1910-1999), son of Charles Arthur and Alice Maude Baddeley, commercial and charter fisherman, oyster farmer and freemason, married Alma Burton in Bega in 1932.
