The volumes contain drawings and descriptions of flowers, grasses, trees, and berries found in New South Wales and Tasmania; they were prepared for publication and ten N.S.W. plates were published by the artist in 1887 (Flowers of New South Wales). Included are photo portraits of those to whom the volumes are dedicated, designs for title pages, and certificates awarded to the artist. Information about the artist's ancestors (Blaxland and Walker families) is also contained in the dedications, as is biographical information about other botanists. An account of the compilation of the volumes, letters from William MacGregor (1889-1890) and von Mueller (1894-1896), and lists of plants have been bound into the last volume (PXD 38-2).
