  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    The Australian Institute of Horticulture (AIH) is a non-profit member association of professional horticulturists. It encompasses a wide variety of occupations and consulting roles associated with the plant sciences such as garden maintenance, landscape design, retail, production and wholesale nurseries, research and development, parks and public gardens, arboriculture, education, training, biodiversity and natural resources.
    The AIH became an incorporated organisation on 25th November 1960, although some State and Territory groups were formed before this time. The NSW Council, initially named the STC Institute of Horticulture, was formed by members of the Horticulture and Landscape Gardening Course at Sydney Technical College, Ultimo, NSW in 1940.

    The collection comprises records of both the National Council and NSW State Council of the Australian Institute of Horticulture, including minutes of meetings, correspondence, reports, membership records, photographs and printed material.
