Frank Bladen was a historian and appointed the principal librarian at the Public Library of New South Wales from 1907 to his retirement in 1912. He was also a founder of the (Royal) Australian Historical Society in 1901, of which the Rev. W.H. H. Yarrington was also made president in 1903 and 1910. Yarrington served as minister at Balranald, Yass, West Maitland and Burwood during the ensuing forty years and as a relieving clergyman, mainly in the Diocese of Sydney, during his retirement. W. H. H. Yarrington graduated from Sydney University B.A. in 1877, M.A. in 1880 and LL.B. in 1887. He had edited an anthology of miscellaneous prose and verse published in Sydney in 1868. He published other poetry, numerous sermons and theological pamphlets together with papers of an historical nature for the Society's Journal.
