Humphries whose residence is depicted on f. 12 of volume (see Australian Dictionary of Biography). All sketches except two have pencil titles. Interleaved are notes copied out in Sir William Dixson's hand from the original manuscript of J.W. Beattie. The spine is titled 'Views in Van Dieman's [sic] Land/original drawings/circa 1822'.
