Shirley Ford (nee Goldsmith) was born in Balmain, Sydney, in 1931. She studied ballet as a child, later performing in various roles while touring with Mack’s Revue Company and the Levante Show through northern NSW, Queensland and New Zealand from 1949 to 1951.
