Chang the Chinese Giant was born in 1841 in Canton Province, China. At a claimed 8 feet 2 inches (2.49 metres) tall, he travelled the world as a curiosity for twenty-five years. He arrived in Victoria from America via New Zealand at the end of 1870 and was photographed at Ballarat.
