  • Attributions / conjectures

    Previously identified as Thomas Dean Rowe. Following the dating of this daguerreotype this cannot be Thomas as he died in 1838. The subject strongly resembles George Taylor Rowe (see portrait at ML 641)

  • Date note

    Dated from the first Australian photographer, George Goodman's use of the painted backdrop (see Sydney Morning Herald 25/4/1846). The large sized plate is indicative of a later date than 1845.
