  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Most of the photographs in this collection were taken by Ida Smith's husband, Charles Douglas Smith. He was a competent amateur photographer who worked mostly in black and white. He dated most of the prints, with details of camera and film used

The photographs record the life of Mr and Mrs Smith and their friends. Because Mr Smith had a keen eye for situations and composition the photographs provide a better-than-average commentary on Australian manners and customs of the time
