  • Scope and Content
The painting shows a domestic scene of a small, informal group gathered around a table. Glasses, bottles, jugs, fruit in a bowl and a copy of Studio magazine litter the white tablecloth around which four people are gathered.

Painted the year after Badham completed his studies at Sydney Art School and shortly after his marriage to Enid Wilson, 'Al fresco' was set in the Badham's unit 'Ard-Na-Lee' at The Crescent, Vaucluse. His wife Enid, (at far right) is joined at table (left to right) by her brother Reg, mother Julia Margaret Wilson, and sister Mrs Esme (Jo) Crockett.

Al fresco was exhibited in the Society of Artists' Annual Exhibition in 1927, (no. 150)
