  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Robert Angus Golding was born 23 March 1893 in the gold mining town of Tomingley near Parkes, N.S.W. He attended the local public school and won a scholarship to Sydney Teachers College in 1910. He obtained entry to the University of Sydney and obtained a Bachelor of Arts at the end of 1914. In 1915 he went to teach mathematics at North Sydney Boys High School, he also ran the athletics and swimming teams till 1918. He then went to Goulburn High School, again teaching mathematics from 1919-1922. Sydney Boys High from 1923-1929. Various appointments followed at high schools throughout the State until 1949/1950 he came to Homebush Boys High School as Headmaster until his retirement in 1957. He died 5 August 1974.

    Mounted portrait of Robert A. Golding. Has inside inscription, "Robert Angus Golding, ca 1910, Maths teacher GHS, HM Homebush BHS 1947-1957". The date of 1910 is incorrect, Golding was born 1893 and the portrait appears to be a man of about 40 years of age.
