  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Norah Morison was from New South Wales and was the women's Sporting Official for swimming at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics Games as well as the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games.

Mrs. Morison also played a part in the green and gold colours for Australia's sporting teams -

"The parade dress for the Olympics and Commonwealth
Games from 1928 until 1948 had mostly consisted of a
white blouse and grey skirt. Two officials Norah Morison
and Nell Gould, enlisted the help of Doris Magee to try and
change and brighten the uniform. They submitted a gold
coloured uniform to the Australian Olympic Federation for
consideration. Eventually the uniform was changed and the
team received a tremendous ovation at the 1960 Olympics".
