  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Gregory Grant John Macintosh was a sculptor who studied with Lucien Henry and taught at Sydney Technical College.

    Lucien Henry was a French artist who arrived in Sydney in 1880. He was appointed instructor at the first modeling school in the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts. In 1883 he was appointed art instructor at the Sydney Technical College. He returned to France in 1891.

    Photographs of sculptures by Gregory Macintosh and the Sydney Technical College, Ultimo, 1891-1894. Includes a portrait of Lucien Henry inscribed on reverse "to my friend Gregory Macintosh with my best wishes / L. Henry / 22.5.91" (PXE 1231 / Box 2).
