  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Clare House (also known as Killarney) in Oakville, N.S.W., was built for Captain John Scarvell and his family in the late 1820s and 1830s. The first part of the house may have been built for Andrew Thompson before 1817. The building was later used as an inn until 1911. Killarney Inn was popular with racegoers from a nearby course. In the 1980s and early 1990s the exterior of the house was shown in the television series 'A Country Practice'.
